Two types of grant are available:-
1) Grant for Business investment (GBI). This is a discretionary grant aimed at encouraging growing companies to invest in projects which will increase productivity skills and employment. These are projects which require capital investment by the company to make the project possible. Grants are made available to assist this process and support and supplement the shortfall in the company’s own investment.
2) Grant for Research and Development (GRD). This is again a discretionary grant aimed at helping businesses carry out research and development work that will lead to technologically innovative products or processes.
The GRD scheme is aimed at individuals planning to start up businesses in any part of the country and at small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) already operating . The idea is to help businesses carry out projects they normally wouldn’t undertake and to encourage further private investment into them.
